Finding Your Place to Blossom at Grace

Tom Hager and his wife Kim moved to Florida five years ago to care for Tom's parents, and a referral from their previous church brought them to Grace. The Word and the sacraments sustained Tom through a hard season, and new friendships followed. He began helping with video sound on Sundays, then joined the Memorial Committee, where he learned how the church works and that "helping out" is actually ministry! One question led to another: when Tom asked why Grace no longer hosted dinners, the answer was that the church needed a couple more volunteers. He then asked what else the church might do with one more helper.

Today, Tom visits homebound members and sometimes shares Communion, prays with the Centering Prayer group, helps lead our outreach ministry, and serves on the Property Team, where his years of building houses with his dad and brothers come in handy. In return he has found camaraderie, new skills, and a deepening sense of connection. His invitation to all of us: start with a prayer, add a smile, and top it off with a word of encouragement.
